Godolphin School was the venue for the Rotary Wessex District 1110 round of Rotary Young Musicians, organised by Salisbury Rotary Club.
Young Musicians is open to all ages in full time education up to and including A level, or equivalent. It aims to offer young people:
* experience of performing on a public stage
* opportunity to showcase their musical talent
* impartial feedback and performance assessment by experienced adjudicators
And, the audience were treated to a fantastic range of performances from vocals to a wide range of instrumentals, including piano, tuba, guitar, clarinet and tenor horn.
Judges Kate Edgar and Liz Aylett were certainly given a difficult task in announcing the winners as:
Overall and Instrumental Winner – Jake Barlett on Tuba
Vocal Winner – Emily Price (Godolphin)
All contestants were presented with Certificates by Rotary District Governor, Debbie Dunford, and the winners received their trophies from the Mayor of the City of Salisbury, Councillor Sven Hocking.
Jake and Emily now proceed to the next stage of this national competition, to be held in Bromley in Greater London, nd hopefully then to the national final in Romford.
Salisbury Rotary Club would like to thank Godolphin School and Head Teacher, Jenny Price, Judges Kate Edgar and Liz Aylett, and members of Salisbury Rotary Club and their organising team of Alan Corkill, Nigel Brookes, Jan Paterson and Melodie Brookes.
